FROM clear skies to dry roads, summer offers ideal riding conditions — but it also brings intense heat that can affect both rider and machine.
Here are essential tips to help you stay safe, cool, and comfortable on the road:
Stay hydrated. Dehydration can cause fatigue and poor focus. Bring a reusable water bottle or hydration pack, and take breaks in shaded areas to cool off and rehydrate.
Wear breathable, UV-protective gear. Choose riding gear made from breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics. Opt for jackets, gloves and pants with mesh panels. Use a full-face helmet with a UV-tinted visor or wear sunglasses for eye protection.
Ride during cooler hours. Plan rides for early morning or late afternoon. Avoid midday heat to reduce the risks of sunburn, heatstroke and engine stress.
Watch out for heat-related wear. High temps raise tire pressure — check it before and after every ride. Monitor coolant levels and ensure your cooling system is in top shape.
Inspect your motorcycle. Do pre-ride checks on tires, brakes, oil, lights and chains. Address any unusual signs immediately to avoid breakdowns.
With the right gear and preparation, summer rides can be safe and enjoyable — just the way Tropang Maalam rolls!
