16 Cebuanos among topnotchers in LET

CEBU CITY — Cebu's universities once again proved their excellence in teacher education as 16 of their graduates secured top spots in the March 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LET).

Based on the results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on May 23, eight graduates from Cebu-based schools landed in the top 10 for the Elementary level, while another eight achieved the same feat in the Secondary level.

Leading the list was Jeanlyn Guinita Colipano of Cebu Technological University (CTU)–Danao, who emerged as the topnotcher in the Secondary level after garnering a score of 93.80 percent.

Her achievement marked the highest score among all test-takers nationwide.

She was joined in the top 10 by fellow Cebu graduates Lei Mykylls Semaña Fernandez of Cebu Normal University (CNU), who ranked sixth, and Margaux Amatos Bailon, also from CNU, who placed seventh.

Marie Jessa Lisondra Montemayor of CTU–Main followed in eighth place, while Janine Napoles of Cebu Institute of Technology–University ranked ninth.

Three others from Cebu completed the list of top scorers at the Secondary level, all tied in 10th place. This includes Geremie Fegarido Generale of CNU, Nelia Soler Gutierrez of CTU–Main, and Sheen Sarsaba Montezon of CTU–Argao.

In the Elementary level, Bea Geraldine Ylaya Larobis of CNU and Juliana Mae Berame Magtagad of CTU–Main Campus both placed seventh nationwide, on identical 93.20 percent ratings.

Two examinees from CTU — Ricamae Bentoy De Los Reyes from CTU–Carmen and Jean Rose Mamac Lamela from CTU–Main — were tied for eighth place.

Louiss Arctura Degamo of CTU–Main landed in ninth place. Three more graduates were tied at 10th place, including Mary Angeli Imperial Del Mar of CTU–Moalboal, Rhea Nicole Muaña Hoyo-a of CTU–Main, and John Lester Rizon Tuazon of Salazar Institute of Technology in Cebu City.

A total of 55,029 out of 97,035 examinees passed the exams for a nationwide passing rate for 2025 LET of 56.71 percent, according to PRC.

Among the top-performing institutions based on group size and pass rates are Bicol University–Daraga which posted an impressive 97.12 percent passing rate in the Elementary level, and the Philippine Normal University–Manila which attained a near-perfect 98.98 percent in the Secondary level.

The exam was conducted on March 23 across more than 40 testing centers nationwide, including in Cebu, Metro Manila, Davao, Iloilo, and Baguio.

PRC reveals roster of new teachers, chemical engineers

THE Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has announced that 16,282 elementary teachers out of 34,810 examinees (46.77 percent); and 38,747 secondary teachers out of 62,225 examinees (62.27 percent) successfully passed the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) given last March.

"It is further announced that of the 16,282 elementary teacher passers, 13,819 are first timers and 2,463 are repeaters. For the secondary teachers, 32,624 passers are first timers and 6,123 are repeaters," the PRC said.

The following have finished in the top five under the elementary category: 1. Jamaema Hiluano Mustapha – Mindanao State University-Maigo School of Arts and Trades; Raeiden Mohammad Pango – Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (94.60 percent) 2. Kyla Mae Enmel Gatab – Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila; Monica May Cruz Napod – Bicol University-Daraga; Nervin John Corminal Vicada – North Eastern Mindanao State University-Main (93.80 percent) 5. With a score of 93.40 percent, four passers finished in 6th place, five passers ranked 7th (93.20 percent), seven passers clinched 8th place (93 percent), eight passers placed 9th (92.80 percent) and eight passers round the top 10 (92.60 percent).

Six passers finished in sixth place (92.80 percent), 13 passers clinched 7th (92.60 percent), 10 passers placed 8th (92.40 percent), eight passers finished 9th (92.20 percent) and 17 passers placed 10th (92 percent) to round up the top 10.

A full list of all the passers and the top 10 for both exams can be found on the PRC website and Facebook page. The results were published 41 days after the final day of the exams.

"The results of examination with respect to 57 examinees were withheld pending final determination of their liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examinations," the PRC said.

Both elementary and secondary versions of the LEPT were taken last March 23 in 38 testing centers across the country.

In addition, the PRC also announced that 602 out of 799 examinees (75.34 percent) passed the Chemical Engineering Licensure Examinations (CHELE), which was taken on Wednesday to Friday.

Results were released on the final day of examinations on Friday. The following are the top 10 passers of this licensure examination: 1. Adrian Paul Bolasoc Gutierrez – Adamson University; Roby Yzel Evangelista Katipunan – Mapua University-Manila; Jessarine Joy Cadiz Ramos – UP Los Baños (86.60 percent) 9. Results of the CHELE were released after the LEPT on Friday.

This exam was taken from May 21 to 23 in testing centers in the National Capital Region, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena and Rosales.
