The Philippines’ goal to achieve high-income country status by 2040 remains within reach despite the obstacles from the pandemic and the global economic upheavals, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s economic managers said.

Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go and Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman acknowledged that the Covid-19 pandemic significantly disrupted the country’s long-term development goals, but the government adjusted its economic strategies to achieve its AmBisyon Natin 2040 plan, which envisions a high-income Philippine economy by 2040.
