Philippine auto industry holds steady as EVs gain ground

THE domestic auto industry remains optimistic as it heads into 2026 with growth coming mainly from commercial vehicles and a cautious but notable rise in electric vehicle (EV) takeup.

Data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (Campi) and the Truck Manufacturers Association show a total of 305,381 vehicles sold from January to August 2025, just 0.2 percent higher than the same period last year.
