General Santos City Chamber chief responds to Socoteco II story

I AM writing in my capacity as president of the General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. to formally request an erratum regarding the article titled “Socoteco II power firm’s crisis leads to a decade-long upgrade delay,” published in the Regions section of The Manila Times on Jan. 5, 2026. (https://www.manilatimes.net/2026/01/05/regions/scotabato-powerfirms-management-crisis-leads-to-a-decade-long-upgrade-delay/2252407).

The article incorrectly attributes several statements to me. Specifically, it cites a purported study claiming that the South Cotabato II Electric Cooperative Inc. (Socoteco II) requires an investment of P2 billion annually over the next five years — amounting to a total of P10 billion — for the rehabilitation, modernization, and operation of its distribution system.
