ISUZU Motors Ltd. and Toyota Motor Corp. have confirmed a joint development program to bring a next-generation light-duty fuel cell electric truck to market by fiscal year 2027.
The project combines Isuzu’s ELF EV platform with Toyota’s third-generation fuel cell system, with both companies co-developing the integration to meet the durability and efficiency demands of commercial use. The ELF EV, introduced in 2023, is built on Isuzu’s I-MACS architecture, a modular platform designed to accommodate multiple powertrain technologies, including battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell systems.
