TAIWANESE technology company Synology is urging government agencies and organizations in the Philippines to strengthen backup and recovery systems as cyber threats and demand for digital services continue to grow.

The company said the expansion of online public services under the E-Governance Act is increasing pressure on digital infrastructure as more transactions, applications and records move to shared online platforms. According to the World Bank, the number of Filipinos using digitally enabled government services is expected to increase by around 30 million between 2022 and 2026.
