CEBU CITY — The country is pushing for more investments in nickel processing and downstream industries as the government strengthens support for the mining sector amid growing global demand for battery minerals.
Industry leaders in the Philippines said the country aims to expand beyond exporting raw nickel ore and develop a stronger presence in the electric vehicle battery supply chain, where nickel is a major component used in lithium-ion batteries and energy storage systems.
