In 2001, he fully committed himself to pursuing this passion by dedicating himself to painting. During this period, he honed his skills and developed a unique style that resonated with many.

In 2003, Ducay took on a job as a shipment checker to support himself financially. While this role provided stability, it was never his ultimate dream.

Recognizing the importance of following his artistic aspirations, he made a bold decision in 2004 to become a freelance artist. This leap enabled him to fully embrace his creativity and explore various artistic avenues.

As a freelance artist, Ducay specialized in designing event backdrops and setting up captivating displays. His work also included crafting intricate styrofoam sculptures and creating vibrant mural paintings. Additionally, he began selling his paintings, sharing his artistic vision with a broader audience. This transition not only allowed him to pursue his passion but also enabled him to establish himself as a versatile and innovative artist in the community.

As he reminisced about his childhood, he found himself reflecting on the profound influences that shaped his artistic journey. One of the most significant was Fernando Amorsolo, renowned for his early studies of Impressionism, whose vibrant portrayals of Filipino life deeply inspired him.

Alongside Amorsolo’s influence, he also cherished the guidance of his first mentor, affectionately known as “Lolo Sandro.” A talented painter and newspaper columnist, Lolo Sandro — the grandfather of his childhood friend — was also a skilled craftsman known for creating traditional “bahay kubo” structures using broomsticks. He played a pivotal role in nurturing his artistic sensibilities.

This connection enriched his upbringing, providing him with a unique blend of artistic inspiration and personal warmth. He has undergone significant evolution in his artistic style, embracing a more contemporary approach that draws on avant-garde movements. His work reflects a deep influence from the innovative techniques and bold use of color characteristic of renowned artists such as Paul Cézanne and Vincent van Gogh. By integrating their philosophies and methods into his own practice, he captures the essence of modern art while pushing the boundaries of traditional representation. This transformation highlights a commitment to experimenting with form and expression, ultimately creating a unique artistic voice that resonates in today’s art scene.

At present, Ducay is an active member of several esteemed organizations that reflect his passion for art and community service. He is involved with the Bangko Sentral Art Club, where he collaborates with fellow artists and participates in initiatives that promote art appreciation in the Philippines.

Additionally, he serves as a member of the Philippine Art Ambassadors, a group dedicated to showcasing Filipino artistry on both national and international platforms. Ducay is also a member of Lions Club International, where he participates in various charitable projects to help those in need. Furthermore, he is a member of the Professional Art Restorers of the Philippines and Asia Inc., an organization focused on preserving and restoring artworks to ensure their longevity and cultural significance. Through these affiliations, Ducay not only advances his own artistic career but also contributes to the broader artistic community and social welfare.

Ducay has actively participated in a variety of group art exhibitions, showcasing his work alongside many talented artists. Looking ahead, he is optimistic about the possibility of hosting a solo art exhibition, which would mark a significant milestone in his artistic career.

Preparations are underway for Ducay’s first solo online International Art Exhibition, scheduled for this month. Presented by Art Heals of Creative Studio and Creative Beacons, it will feature the theme “The Healing Art Journey.” The exhibition aims to explore the transformative power of art and its ability to foster healing and connection within the global community.

Ducay envisions a future where his avant-garde art reaches a global audience, allowing diverse cultures to experience his work firsthand. His goal is to showcase his distinctive style at international exhibitions and events, positioning himself within the vibrant global art community.
