COMMERCIAL vehicle brand FAW Trucks and distributor Astra Multimarket Corp. have launched a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) program aimed at supporting local communities, beginning with an outreach activity for students in Binangonan, Rizal.

Dubbed “FAW Trucks Cares – Wheels of Hope Delivering Care Worldwide,” the initiative was formally introduced as the company’s umbrella CSR program, with its first activity focusing on education and youth development under the theme “Para sa Mga Bata.”

The inaugural outreach was held at Limbon-Limbon Elementary School, where employees, business partners, and volunteers spent the day engaging with students through various activities and assistance programs designed to support their educational needs and well-being.

According to company representatives, the program grew from internal discussions on how the organization could contribute more directly to communities beyond its day-to-day business operations.

“At FAW Trucks, we believe that success is measured not only by business achievements but also by the positive impact we create in people’s lives,” said Philip Winston Wu, manager of FAW Trucks.

The activity brought together personnel from both FAW Trucks and Astra Multimarket Corp., reflecting a shared effort to create opportunities for community engagement while encouraging employees to participate in volunteer work.

For many of those involved, it was their first experience participating in a large-scale outreach activity. Organizers said the event provided an opportunity for employees to step away from their regular work routines and interact directly with beneficiaries.

Despite the travel involved and the challenges of conducting the event during the summer heat, volunteers described the experience as rewarding, particularly after seeing the response from students and teachers.

Representatives from Limbon-Limbon Elementary School expressed their appreciation to the organizers, thanking the companies for bringing what they described as a day filled with learning, fun, and encouragement for the school’s students.

The outreach marks the first project under the Wheels of Hope program, which FAW Trucks said it intends to continue in other communities in the future.

Cesar Angelo Aquino Jr., manager of Astra Multimarket Corp., said the initiative is intended to become an ongoing effort rather than a one-time activity.

“When we pay kindness forward, we create a ripple effect that reaches far beyond a single moment or individual,” Aquino said. “Together, we can help build stronger communities and inspire hope through simple acts of service.”

While best known for its presence in the commercial vehicle sector, FAW Trucks said the program reflects its broader goal of contributing to community development alongside its business operations.

With the first Wheels of Hope activity completed, organizers said plans are already being discussed for future outreach projects under the company’s growing CSR platform.
