#SAVEWATTMATTERS, a special Earth Day event held by SM Cares at SM City North EDSA–The Annex, encouraged partners, advocates, students, families and mallgoers to see that caring for the planet can begin with simple, everyday energy-saving choices. Mounted under the SM Green Movement, the program was designed to empower communities in taking steps to help shape a sustainable future.

Joaquin San Agustin, SM Supermalls executive vice president for marketing, said that this effort intends to show people that “making a real difference is easy and attainable when these actions are done consistently together.”

The event was opened by SM North EDSA mall manager Miguel Emmanuel Gaspi, followed by a video message from Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and a show of support from Director Patrick Aquino, CESO III, of the Department of Energy’s Energy Utilization Management Bureau. Afterward, a series of talks connected climate action to practical behavior — from youth participation and resilient communities to energy-saving habits that families can practice in daily life. #SaveWATTMatters also made space for practical learning on responsible energy use at a time when communities everywhere are facing rising energy demand and growing climate challenges.
