Ferrari HC25 unveiled: Exclusive one-off based on the F8 Spider and its last non-hybrid V8

AT the Ferrari Racing Days at Circuit of the Americas, Ferrari unveiled one of its most exclusive creations yet: the HC25, a one-of-a-kind roadster commissioned under the marque’s ultra-bespoke Special Projects program.

Based on the Ferrari F8 Spider, the HC25 retains the donor car’s chassis, layout, and twin-turbocharged V8 engine, but wears an entirely new body designed specifically for a single client. It represents the highest level of personalization available from Ferrari, where owners work directly with the company’s designers to create a car that will never be duplicated.

More than just a custom-bodied F8 Spider, the HC25 marks an important moment in Ferrari history. The F8 Spider was the last open-top Ferrari powered by a non-hybrid mid-mounted turbo V8, and the HC25 serves as both a farewell to that era and a glimpse into the design language shaping the company’s newest flagships, including the Ferrari 12Cilindri and Ferrari F80.

Designed by the Ferrari Design Studio under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, the HC25 adopts a dramatic new look defined by clean geometric forms and sharply sculpted surfaces. The muscular rear haunches remain unmistakably Ferrari, but the overall design is more architectural and futuristic than the voluptuous curves of the F8 Spider.

The HC25’s sculpted rear haunches and sharp geometric lines combine classic Ferrari sensuality with a more futuristic and architectural design language.

A glossy black central band wraps around the body, visually dividing the car into distinct front and rear sections while also serving a practical purpose. Hidden within this “ribbon” are air intakes and heat extractors that manage cooling for the V8 powertrain. From the side, the band creates an arrow-like movement that starts at the rear wheels, flows over the doors, and sweeps into the rear screen, giving the HC25 an aggressive forward stance.

One of the most distinctive details is the door handle, integrated into a machined aluminum blade that spans the bodywork like a bridge. Ferrari also developed a completely unique headlamp assembly for the HC25. Slimmer than any previous Ferrari unit, the lights feature vertically oriented daytime running lights arranged in a boomerang pattern along the leading edges of the front fenders.

Ferrari’s bespoke craftsmanship extends into the cabin, where every material and color was chosen specifically for this one-off commission.

The body is finished in matte Moonlight Grey, contrasted by the gloss-black center section. Yellow accents on the Ferrari badges and brake calipers add subtle visual drama and are echoed inside the cabin, where gray technical fabric is paired with yellow graphics inspired by the same boomerang motifs used on the exterior.

Specially designed five-spoke wheels complete the look, with diamond-finished outer rims and recessed channels that visually enlarge their diameter.

The HC25 retains the F8 Spider’s driver-focused layout while introducing exclusive trim and design elements unique to this car.

The HC25 was created through Ferrari’s Special Projects division, which builds “One-Off” models tailored to a client’s exact specifications. Each project begins with the owner’s concept and is developed in close collaboration with Ferrari’s design team.

The process typically takes around two years and involves multiple stages, from design sketches and full-scale styling models to final engineering and production. Throughout the journey, the client remains closely involved in evaluating every detail.

The result is a completely unique Ferrari engineered to the same standards as every production car from Maranello — but with a design that belongs to one person alone.

For collectors, the HC25 is more than a custom commission. It is a rolling piece of automotive art and a fitting tribute to the final chapter of Ferrari’s pure, non-hybrid V8 spider lineage.
