OFW help center opened in Cagayan Valley

TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) launched on June 15 the Alagang OWWA Kapihan at Kabuhayan Center in Cagayan Valley, which will help returning overseas Filipino workers at the regional government center’s site in Carig Sur.

Virsie Tamayao, OWWA regional director, said the place would serve as the regional physical and digital hub for returning overseas Filipino workers, as it offers integrated services from OWWA, Department of Migrant Workers, Department of Trade and Industry, and other partner government agencies.

The newly launched center would serve as a regional front door for returning OFWs to access support for their welfare, training, employment and enterprise needs, easing time, effort and expenses.

The region has more than 300,000 documented OFWs and OWWA members in Cagayan Valley who can avail themselves of the services offered in the center, she said.

Tamayao said the overseas workers may do profiling and assessment, choosing their pathway for livelihood or business, training and matching, and having outcome tracking.

Overseas Filipino workers have a reintegration portal for Migrant’s Brew-Alagang OWWA Center platform and can start their personalized reintegration plan, find a center, and access job matching or other services.

Eligible OFWs who can form an association or cooperative may avail of loan programs up to P5 million for livelihood or enterprise support.
