CAVITE CITY — The suspect in the stabbing incident during the Regada Water Festival surrendered to Cavite City Mayor Denver Chua on Sunday morning at the mayor’s office in Samonte Park.

The suspect was identified as alias Rick, 25, single, and is a tattoo artist residing Manipis St., Barangay 53, San Antonio, Cavite City.

Another suspect, a construction worker identified as alias John, 34, single, and resident of Barrios St., Barangay 53-M, San Antonio, Cavite City had surrendered three days earlier on June 25.

The victim’s uncle and the suspect “John” were involved in a heated argument which eventually escalated into a fistfight.

During the altercation, the victim approached and tried to help his uncle but suspect Rick suddenly struck the victim on his neck with an unknown sharp object, inflicting blunt laceration wound on his neck.

As a result, the victim fell on the concrete pavement and upon noticing that the victim was bleeding, the suspect “Rick,” fled.

The victim was immediately brought to Dra. Salamanca Hospital. However, the attending physician, Dr. Archieval Guitche, declared the victim dead on arrival.

The suspect was turned over to the Cavite City Police for appropriate legal process.

“I strongly condemn any form of violence and there is no room for such crimes here in Cavite City. I want to assure our countrymen that safety and peace in Cavite City will remain the top priority of our government,” said Mayor Denver Chua.
