AFTER months of previews including at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) and the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), Geely Motor Philippines has officially launched the EX2.
Introduced at Makati last June 23, the all-electric hatchback is Geely's newest entry into the country's expanding electric vehicle (EV) market and one of the more affordable options currently available.
The EX2 is marketed as China's best-selling A/B-segment EV for 2025 and the first five months of 2026. Locally, Geely is positioning it as an urban runabout aimed at buyers making the transition from conventional combustion-powered vehicles to electrified mobility.
Built on Geely's Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA), the EX2 measures 4,135-mm long and 1,805-mm wide. Despite its compact dimensions, it rides on a relatively long 2,650-mm wheelbase that helps maximize interior space.
Styling is straightforward and modern, with slim LED lighting elements, smooth body surfaces, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The proportions give it the footprint of a small city car while offering cabin space that Geely says rivals some larger vehicles.
Inside, the EX2 adopts a technology-heavy approach.
The dashboard is dominated by a 14.6-inch central touchscreen running Geely's Flyme Auto operating system, complemented by an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity come standard.
Practicality also appears to be a priority. The cabin incorporates 36 storage compartments, while the rear luggage area offers 375 liters of cargo space that expands to 1,320 liters with the rear seats folded. Up front, a 70-liter frunk provides additional storage.
Power comes from a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 114 horsepower and 150 Newton-meters of torque.
Interestingly, Geely opted for a rear-wheel-drive layout, a configuration that's uncommon in this price bracket and one more commonly associated with premium EVs. The setup is paired with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link independent rear suspension.
The EX2 also comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance technologies, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and a 540-degree camera system that combines surround-view imaging with an underbody perspective.
Two variants will be available locally.
The EX2 Pro is priced at P938,000, while the EX2 Max carries a sticker price of P1.38 million.
Geely is also offering an introductory P50,000 reservation discount for bookings made until Aug. 30, effectively lowering the entry price to P888,000.
Buyers can choose from five exterior colors: Moon White, Aurora Green, Comet Grey, Nebula Beige, and Star Silver.
Reservations and deliveries are already underway, with test drive units available at Geely dealerships nationwide.
At under P900,000 during the promotional period, the EX2 enters a rapidly growing segment where affordability may prove just as important as battery technology itself.
