As Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu celebrates the success of hosting the 48th ASEAN Summit, Southeast Asia’s biggest diplomatic gathering, property giant Megaworld’s 30-hectare The Mactan Newtown has successfully strengthened its position as a world-class hub for international meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibition (MICE) events.

At the center of this global economic meet was the iconic Mactan Expo–the first two-level standalone convention center in Cebu with access to the beach–which welcomed 11 ASEAN leaders, more than 3,000 delegates, tourism stakeholders, organizers, and international media from across the region. The venue highlighted the efficiency of hosting esteemed leaders for a major diplomatic meet within an integrated township, while also reinforcing Cebu province’s readiness to host global events.

The success of this year’s ASEAN Summit in Lapu-Lapu City further highlighted Cebu’s growing identity as a major MICE destination in the Philippines.
