THE Philippines’ largest maritime event is returning for its third consecutive year this September, putting a sharp focus on the country’s “blue economy” and maritime security at a time of mounting territorial challenges and economic pressures in the region.
The Beacon Expo & Conference 2026, organized by the Maritime League Inc., is scheduled for Sept. 29 and 30 at the SMX Convention Center Manila. The event will run alongside a three-day international ship and boat show at the headquarters of the Philippine Navy and the Philippine Coast Guard, as well as a networking event at the Manila Yacht Club.
The conference arrives during a critical period for the archipelagic nation. As the Philippines navigates complex geopolitical tensions in its surrounding waters, safeguarding its marine wealth and strengthening maritime domain awareness have become urgent national priorities. The event’s central theme, “Maritime Excellence: Powering the Philippine Blue Economy,” aims to address these vulnerabilities by bridging the gap between national defense and sustainable economic growth.
“The maritime industry thrives when its sectors work together toward a common vision,” said retired vice admiral Eduardo Ma. R. Santos, chairman and president of the Maritime League Inc. “Beacon Expo & Conference 2026 is a call to action for all stakeholders to strengthen cooperation, embrace innovation, and collectively build a resilient and globally competitive maritime nation.”
With more than 36,000 kilometers of coastline, the Philippines relies heavily on its maritime infrastructure. Organizers noted that the conference will address critical interconnected sectors, including shipping modernization, port logistics efficiency, and defense frameworks designed to protect the country’s territorial and economic interests.
The 2026 event will also feature technical presentations from the One Maritime Group, a federation of major domestic maritime associations, alongside a dedicated job fair aimed at addressing labor shortages and career development within the seafaring and naval engineering sectors.
Thousands of regional delegates, policymakers, and defense experts are expected to attend the two-day summit to map out strategic partnerships for the country’s maritime future.
