The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) has named PlayTime Entertainment as the official presenter of the 9th Entertainment Editors’ Choice (The EDDYS) following the signing of a partnership agreement ahead of the annual awards ceremony on July 5.
The agreement was finalized during a contract signing held on June 22 at the PlayTime Entertainment office. The awards will be presented as “The 9th Eddys presented by PlayTime Entertainment.”
Nominees for this year’s awards were announced during a livestream on SPEEd’s Facebook page on June 25 from the Luxent Hotel.
Competing for Best Picture are “Bar Boys: After School,” “Eraserheads: Combo on the Run,” “I’m Perfect,” “Journeyman,” “Quezon,” “Sunshine” and “UnMarry.”
The Best Actress nominees are Mylene Dizon for “Habang Nilalamon ng Hydra ang Kasaysayan,” Barbie Forteza for “Kontrabida Academy,” Krystel Go for “I’m Perfect,” Angelica Panganiban for “UnMarry,” Maris Racal for “Sunshine” and Charo Santos for “Only We Know.”
Nominated for Best Actor are Carlo Aquino for “Bar Boys: After School,” Dingdong Dantes for “Only We Know,” Vice Ganda for “Call Me Mother,” Joshua Garcia for “Meet, Greet & Bye,” Jericho Rosales for “Quezon” and JC Santos for “Journeyman.”
The Best Director nominees are Sigrid Andrea Bernardo for “I’m Perfect,” Antoinette Jadaone for “Sunshine,” Jeffrey Jeturian for “UnMarry,” Christian Paolo Lat and Dominic Lat for “Journeyman,” Kip Oebanda for “Bar Boys: After School,” Jerrold Tarog for “Quezon” and Maria Diane Ventura for “Eraserheads: Combo on the Run.”
Representing PlayTime Entertainment at the signing were president Roy Alcid and company spokesperson Adela Mae Marshall. SPEEd was represented by president Tessa Mauricio, entertainment editor of The Manila Times, and vice president for internal affairs Maricris Valdez.

The Eddys is an annual awards program organized by SPEEd that recognizes achievements in Philippine filmmaking, honoring actors, directors, filmmakers and behind-the-scenes professionals.
