MANILA, Philippines — Senator Robin Padilla said he did not help with the escape of Senator Bato dela Rosa, rejecting claims that his actions amounted to obstruction of justice.
Speaking at the last day of the Iglesia Ni Cristo’s (INC) ‘Peace rally,’ Padilla denied posts circulating on social media that he had assisted Dela Rosa in fleeing authorities.
“Libo ang pulis pero walang nanghuli saamin, panong takas ‘yun?” Padilla said.
In May, Dela Rosa escaped the Senate grounds after the International Criminal Court released his arrest warrant. Authorities claim that Padilla was instrumental in Dela Rosa’s escape.
