THE National Housing Authority (NHA) continues to extend all forms of assistance — particularly financial aid — to hundreds of families affected by the June 8 magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao.

NHA General Manager Joeben Tai said on Wednesday, July 1, that some P48.270 million from the agency’s Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) has been released and distributed in General Santos City and Sarangani province on June 26, 2026.

At the "GenSan" event, a total of 998 families received P30,000 each, amounting to P29.940 million. Meanwhile, 333 families from Malapatan and 278 families from Glan — both in Sarangani province — received P30,000 each, totaling P18.330 million, Tai told The Manila Times via Viber.

“The events mark the NHA’s second EHAP payout to the affected provinces following the first distribution on June 18, 2026,” the NHA chief said.

He said the agency is set to conduct similar activities for other families in the coming days to fulfill its commitment to extend shelter assistance to quake-hit families.

As one of the NHA's priority programs, EHAP aims to provide immediate financial assistance to families whose homes were damaged by disasters, enabling them to repair or rebuild their residences and fast-track their recovery, Assistant General Manager Alvin Feliciano said.

Aligned with the "Bagong Pilipinas" vision of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the NHA — an attached agency of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) — remains committed to delivering responsive programs for the Filipino people, the two top NHA officials said.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said that the housing department and its key shelter agencies (KSAs), particularly NHA have sustained the delivery of various shelter assistance to the quake victims in Mindanao.

"The president’s directive is unmistakably clear: we will not abandon our fellow ‘Mindanaoans’ until they have fully recovered from the effects of the earthquake,” Aliling said.

“The DHSUD, alongside our KSAs and partner agencies, remains committed to delivering continuous aid to Mindanao," he reiterated.
