PARACELIS, Mt. Province — Two bodies of men were found submerged along the Agkhuyo River in Fengar, Barangay Samoki, Bontoc, Mountain Province on June 30, 2026.

The Bontoc disaster risk reduction management office identified them as Jeremiah Binan Guing-oy, 25, of Poblacion, Mankayan, Benguet, and Jacob Ting Tan, 38, of Middle Quirino Hill, Baguio City. Both were workers of a local bakeshop in the town.

The victims’ coworkers returned to the river to continue the search on June 30 after the two drowned and went missing late afternoon on June 29. The two victims and their friends went to the river for a picnic on June 29 at around 3 in the afternoon.

The two decided to swim upstream but never came back.

Their friends launched a search at 6 p.m. on the same day but failed to locate them.

Town officials later informed the relatives of the victims as their bodies were brought to the funeral parlor.
