SOLANA, Cagayan — A faulty wiring resulted in a fire that destroyed an air-conditioned poultry farm in Nangalisan in this town on Thursday morning, July 2, a fire protection official said.

The fire that razed Maristle Poultry House was put off at past 8:15 in the morning on the same day.

Solana police chief Senior Inspector Nestor Parallag said they initially recorded faulty electrical wiring as the cause of the fire.

The poultry owner has estimated the damage at P17 million, but Parallag said they have yet to assess the actual damage.

Due to its insulation foams and plastic slats, the poultry was immediately engulfed by fire, Parallag added.

As the conflagration engulfed the poultry, fire protection workers raised a second alarm, which means that at least eight fire trucks are needed and adjacent areas are at risk of the fire, Parallag said.

No people were hurt or killed in the fire.
