LEGAZPI CITY — The Police Regional Office in Bicol Region (PRO-5) has seized P30 million worth of illegal drugs behind relentless antidrug campaign across the region, Philippine National Police (PNP) Bicol spokesman Lt. Col. Maria Luisa Calubaquib said.
Calubaquib said the confiscation of the illegal drugs was made possible through an intensified and sustained round-the-clock anti-illegal drug operations conducted throughout June. She said the PRO-5 conducted a total of 132 anti-illegal drug operations across the Bicol Region in June.
These operations led to the arrest of 141 drug law violators composed of 13 high-value individuals and 128 street-level individuals, reflecting the PNP’s continuing focus on dismantling drug networks while addressing street-level drug activities.
As a result of these operations, Calubaquib said the combined operating teams confiscated 4.33 kilograms of shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P29,420,104.80, along with 158.98 grams of marijuana valued at P19,077.84. The combined value of the seized illegal drugs reached P29,439,182.64, she said.
These accomplishments underscore PRO-5’s unwavering commitment to the relentless implementation of anti-illegal drug operations through intelligence-driven, evidence-based and lawful police interventions, she said.
“The successful operations were made possible through the strong collaboration among PRO-5’s operating units, local government units, partner law enforcement agencies, force multipliers and the active participation of concerned citizens who continue to support the government’s campaign against illegal drugs,” said Calubaquib.
Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda, Bicol PNP regional director, said that the campaign against illegal drugs remains one of the organization’s top priorities in ensuring the safety and security of every Bicolano community.
“The fight against illegal drugs remains unwavering. PRO-5 will relentlessly pursue individuals and groups engaged in the illegal drug trade through intelligence-driven and lawful police operations,” said Miranda.
“We likewise call on every member of the community to stay alert and immediately report suspicious activities to the authorities,” added Miranda, explaining that the “success of our campaign is a shared responsibility, and the continued cooperation and trust of the public remain among our greatest strengths.”
Miranda stressed that the PNP regional command accomplishments reflect PRO-5’s sustained commitment to the effective implementation of the PNP Focused Agenda on Enhanced Managing Police Operations.
Beyond intensified police operations, Miranda said that the PNP Bicol continues to promote preventive strategies through public information campaigns, community engagement initiatives and advocacy programs that foster greater public awareness and encourage collective action toward achieving a drug-free, peaceful and resilient Bicol Region.
Guided by the vision of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” he said that the PRO5 will continue working tirelessly with its partner agencies and the public in protecting communities from illegal drugs and all forms of criminality, thereby fostering a safer, more secure and more progressive Bicol Region for all.
