MANILA, Philippines — Pro-impeachment protesters from different political factions united in their calls to convict Vice President Sara Duterte, as the Senate impeachment trial began on Monday, stressing that “the people are watching” the move of senator judges.

During their demonstration in front of the Senate Complex, the slew of protesters called on the senator judges to be objective as the historic trial begins.

“We want the senator-judges to understand that the people are with the judges. We are with the court and that the people are watching,” Raymond Palatino, co-convenor of Bantay Impeachment, a progressive pro-impeachment group, told The Manila Times in Filipino.
