MANILA, Philippines – The state-run weather agency said on Sunday that if the direction of Super Typhoon "Bavi" (international name) will not change, it may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) either Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.

Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in an early briefing that Bavi was moving west-northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour (kph) while packing maximum sustained winds of 215kph and gustiness of up to 265kph.

Estimated to be 2, 355 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon, the super typhoon would carry the domestic name "Inday," the ninth storm to hit the archipelago this year, once it enters PAR, Aurelio said.

But the super typhoon will unlikely make landfall in any part of the country although it will move close to Batanes and the landfall will be somewhere over Taiwan, according to the Pagasa forecaster.

However, the weather disturbance is forecast to enhance the southwest monsoon or "habagat" and will bring rain until the weekend, he added.

Meanwhile, the ridge of high pressure area (HPA), the opposite of the low pressure area, will be extending over extreme Northern Luzon, the national weather bureau said.

In the meantime, it said the country could expect generally-fair weather all throughout the day except for isolated downpours or thunderstorms, particularly in late afternoon or at night due to the localized thunderstorms.
