The Senate impeachment court has clarified that a two-thirds vote of all 24 senators, or at least 16 votes, is required to convict Vice President Sara Duterte. Presiding Officer Chiz Escudero said the Constitution is clear on that matter. He emphasized that the constitutional requirement remains unchanged. This is regardless of vacancies or temporary circumstances involving Senate membership. Three members of the Senate were not present during the start of the impeachment trial. They are Senators Bato dela Rosa, Jinggoy Estrada, and Rodante Marcoleta.
