The prosecution presented its first witness on the second day of the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte. NBI Senior Agent John Mark Calilung testified to authenticate the alleged threat of Vice President Sara Duterte to President Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and former Speaker Martin Romualdez. A video is one of the pieces of evidence in the article of grave threat. The impeachment court allowed the prosecution to show a portion of the video. The defense team said it plans to show the entirety of the video. Private Prosecutor Amando Virgil Ligutan said that the evidence is not just derived from testimonies or authenticated documents, but also from Duterte's own words and own admissions.

The Sandiganbayan has denied the request for furlough of former Senator Bong Revilla.

Revilla is detained at a jail in Quezon City. He is facing a malversation through a falsification case filed against him and other people over the alleged ghost project in Pandi, Bulacan. Revilla requested for a furlough to visit the wake of his brother in Cavite. However, the court said the situation Revilla presented could not be considered an emergency. The court also acknowledged that granting him furlough would strain the prison's security capabilities and personnel. It also noted that this would create a public impression that the accused, being a former high-ranking public official, is a favored detainee.

A decentralized healthcare model is bringing services closer to the grassroots. This was highlighted in The Manila Times Health Forum held in Makati City. Former Department of Health Undersecretary Eric Tayag is now lead consultant of the Laguna Universal Healthcare Team. He shared how the province of Laguna improved healthcare access to its constituents especially in far-flung areas. One pharmacy in every municipality has been established. A mobile ‘botika’ program is bringing healthcare to remote areas. Aside from this, chemotherapy services are now available at three provincial sites for cancer patients instead of traveling to Manila. You can watch the health forum in full this Sunday on The Manila Times streaming channel.

The LTFRB has ordered its regional offices to coordinate with local disaster officials in preparation for the possible impact of Super Typhoon Bavi. It is also preparing travel advisories for public utility vehicles and transport operators to help ensure passenger safety and avoid travel disruptions. These public utility vehicles include buses, UV Express units, and cargo trucks. LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza said their regional offices have also been instructed to maximize the use of their social media platforms. This is to disseminate information on travel suspensions and weather-related advisories to motorists and public transport drivers.
