Metro Manila waste eyed for green power projects

THE government is looking to turn the trash generated by Metro Manila and other metropolises into electricity, with the Department of Energy (DOE) on Thursday announcing a special auction round next year for waste-to-energy (WTE) projects.

The auction will be part of the ongoing green energy auction (GEA) program, and the notice and terms of reference will be released later this month, the DOE said.
